The Beginning

Monday afternoon and the time had come to face the nutritionist. I knew I wasn’t the best eater in the world and I was going to have to completely change the way I ate. No more eating out, carb loading, or constantly satisfying my sweet tooth. It was time to treat my body like a temple. My BIA (Bio-impedance assessment) introduction was with Di who explained that this meeting allowed her to see what my body looked like from the inside out. She attached little electrodes to my hands and feet, while explaining the whole process as she went. This gave her a reading of my fat: muscle ratio, hydration levels, cell health, toxicity levels and biological age. As I previously predicted I had some habits to change, I was instructed to write a food dairy of everything that passed through my mouth over the next four weeks before my next Bio-impedance assessment, as well as what I should and shouldn’t be eating – let the healthy eating and exercise begin.

Now that my body had been examined from the inside out my next port of call was to see Mike who would take me through a personal training session. Over the years I had signed up to various gyms, where I would meet with a trainer and go through what I wanted to achieve by coming to the gym – which was always toning up my stomach, butt and thighs so I could of course look like the celebrities. Then the trainer would run through a brief work out that I could do on my own. I was secretly hoping it wouldn’t be a repeat of the same scenario with Mint. My wishes were granted and Mike went through an entire workout specifically designed for what I am looking for. We ran through four different types of exercises that covered the entire body plus cardio that I could start off with, then explained we can focus on specific areas once my overall fitness level has improved. He covered technique, stretches and explained when I should move on to a higher weight level. I was huffing and puffing by the end of it, feeling the sweat beaming down my face. I have a lot of work to do before my body is going to look like any Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis or any other celebrities bodies I’ve seen but I know I am on the right track.
